Sushma was born in India and moved to the United States at the age of six. Since then, she's moved around a lot but grew up (mostly) in Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A and B.S in Accounting & Government and Politics. Post graduation, she worked at an accounting firm for two years and felt uninspired by her work. She made the transition to teaching via NYC Teaching Fellows Program and taught in Brooklyn/Manhattan for five years. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in inquiry based learning, where the teacher is a facilitator of enriching activities aimed to guide students to content mastery. She graduated with a Masters in Math Education from St. John's University while teaching in NYC. Outside of teaching, Sushma loves to travel whenever possible, edit/shoot promotional/music videos for artists, and read and write fiction. She currently lives in Houston, TX with her partner & two dogs.
